Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team in Shelton, CT.

This position is responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations through high-quality FISH analysis, technical review, and workflow coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in FISH analysis (digital preferred), demonstrate sound technical judgment, and contribute to the training and development of team members while maintaining excellence in quality, accuracy, and turnaround time performance.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG)
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetic/FISH
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

**Pay Range: $24.00 - $33.00 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
