Job Description

Position Summary

The Operations FP&A team is seeking an Associate Financial Analyst or Financial Analyst to support financial planning, forecasting, close, accruals, reporting, and special projects across Operations. The role provides broad exposure to operating expense and maintenance capital, meaningful ownership early in a finance career, and opportunities to improve reporting and processes using enterprise planning, reporting, and automation tools.

The successful candidate will combine strong analytical skills with curiosity, initiative, and follow-through. This position is well suited for someone who wants to build a broad FP&A foundation while developing experience in forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, systems, automation, and cross-functional project work. While not an IT role, this role is systems heavy.

Key Responsibilities

Forecasting, Close & Financial Analysis

·     Support operating expense and Maintenance Capital forecasting and analyze actual results versus forecast, budget, and prior expectations.

·     Own preparation and coordination of the monthly management reporting book, including data validation, variance analysis, commentary coordination, quality review, and distribution.

·     Partner with ROW, Ad Val, Finance, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders to identify financial trends, understand cost drivers, and improve forecast accuracy.

·     Communicate emerging risks, roadblocks, and potential impacts to deliverable dates in a timely manner.

Budgeting & Planning

·     Support the annual budgeting process for operating expense and Maintenance Capital.

·     Assist field and Finance partners with project budget submissions, analysis, validation, and reporting.

·     Provide analysis and coordination for recurring financial reviews and planning activities.

Accruals, Audit & Financial Controls

·     Own recurring accrual review, coordination, and upload processes, including investigation and resolution of exceptions.

·     Partner with Accounting and business stakeholders to improve accrual completeness, accuracy, and process consistency.

·     Provide analytical and financial support for audits, reclassifications, carryover reviews, and related Finance requests.

·     Own cost-center hierarchy maintenance and validate the impact of changes on financial reporting structures.

Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement

·     Develop and maintain reports and other analytical solutions that improve visibility and usability of financial information using Power BI, Planning Analytics Workspace and other systems as required

·     Identify opportunities to automate recurring processes, reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and strengthen controls.

·     Use SAP/S4 and TM1/Planning Analytics/PAfE to support forecasting, reporting, analysis, and data validation.

·     Support field users with WBS-related questions and processes while coordinating with the teams responsible for WBS creation and routing.

Special Projects & Business Partnership

·     Perform ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects for Operations FP&A and Finance.

·     Organize cross-functional work, manage deliverables and deadlines, and keep projects moving through proactive follow-up.

·     Take on increasingly complex analysis, projects, and stakeholder exposure as capabilities develop.

Leveling Guidance

·     Associate Financial Analyst: Generally 0–2 years of relevant experience, including qualified new graduates.

·     Financial Analyst: Generally 3–5 years of relevant experience, with greater independence and ownership expected.

·     The selected level will be based on the candidate’s education, relevant experience, and demonstrated capabilities.

Why This Role

·     Broad exposure across operating expense and maintenance capital.

·     Meaningful ownership relatively early in a finance career.

·     A mix of recurring FP&A responsibilities and varied special projects.

·     Opportunities to improve processes rather than simply inherit them.

·     Hands-on development with Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, SAP/S4, and TM1/Planning Analytics.

·     A strong foundation for career growth within FP&A and Finance; successful team members have been selected for more complex and promotional opportunities within Finance.

Qualifications

Required

·     Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or a related analytical discipline or equivalent experience.

·     0 - 2 years of experience.

·     Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

·     Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.

·     Ability to manage multiple priorities, work to deadlines, and communicate risks or roadblocks early.

·     Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-finance partners.

·     Initiative, curiosity, attention to detail, and a demonstrated willingness to investigate issues and drive work to completion.

Preferred

·     Previous experience or coursework in FP&A, finance, accounting, audit, project controls, cost control, or another analytical field.

·     Experience with forecasting, budgeting, accruals, or capital-versus-expense analysis.

·     Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, SAP/S4, or TM1/Planning Analytics/PAfE.

·     Midstream energy industry experience.

Tools & Development Opportunities

The role offers the opportunity to build or expand capability in Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, project/WBS processes, SAP/S4, and TM1/Planning Analytics. Prior experience with all of these tools is not required.
