THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Analyst, Market Insights & Analytics supports the development of a timely, accurate, and consistent view of market, competitive, and category performance across Ulta Beauty. Working with the Senior Manager, this role owns foundational data preparation, validation, and recurring reporting across internal and syndicated data sources, ensuring analyses are reliable and ready for business interpretation.

The Analyst will integrate and reconcile data across providers, maintain recurring market and competitive reporting, support market tests and measurement, and help standardize and automate dashboards and analytical processes. The role will also translate data into clear initial findings and visualizations, enabling senior team members to focus on strategic implications, recommendations, and stakeholder leadership.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

Market Tracking & Competitive Analytics

  • Prepare and refresh weekly, monthly, and quarterly market, competitive, and category reporting across key metrics including share, rank, growth, innovation, and promotion
  • Extract, clean, reconcile, and validate data from internal and external sources, identifying anomalies and coordinating resolution
  • Conduct initial analyses to surface trends, patterns, risks, and whitespace opportunities for further interpretation and deeper investigation

Measurement, Reporting & Frameworks

  • Support market tests and measurement by organizing inputs, maintaining KPI trackers, and conducting pre- and post-analysis under senior guidance
  • Create clear charts, summaries, and draft insights for market pulse updates, category reviews, strategic analyses, and executive materials
  • Integrate internal performance data with external market and consumer data to build consistent and complete views of business performance
  • Maintain standardized definitions, templates, dashboards, and methodologies across recurring analyses to ensure accuracy and comparability

Cross-Functional Partnership & Communication

  • Partner with Merchandising, Digital, Pricing, FP&A, Analytics, Merchandising Planning & Inventory, Consumer Insights, and Strategy on prioritized analytical questions
  • Translate analyses into concise takeaways and visualizations, clearly documenting data sources, assumptions, and limitations
  • Coordinate inputs, timelines, and follow-up with partners to keep analytical workstreams moving and deliverables on track

Data Quality & Vendor Support

  • Support data quality and governance across market data providers, including Circana, NielsenIQ, and Spate, by monitoring issues and coordinating resolution
  • Maintain data dictionaries, source documentation, access records, refresh calendars, and vendor issue logs
  • Support evaluation and onboarding of new data sources and tools by documenting requirements, use cases, and data-quality considerations

Analytics Enablement & Automation

  • Standardize and automate recurring reports and dashboards to reduce manual work and improve speed, consistency, and scalability
  • Partner with Analytics and Technology teams to test enhancements and maintain reliable data refreshes and self-service tools
  • Identify process improvements and create clear documentation and user guidance that strengthen analytical consistency

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, analytics, statistics, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in market, retail, competitive, business intelligence, or related analytics
  • Advanced Excel and proficient PowerPoint skills; Tableau, Power BI, or SQL experience is a plus
  • Experience cleaning, reconciling, and validating multiple data sources; syndicated market data experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and curiosity to question anomalies
  • Ability to turn quantitative information into clear takeaways, charts, and presentations
  • Proactive, organized, accountable, and collaborative; able to manage priorities and deadlines

 

The pay range for this position is $59,000.00 - $80,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
