As a comprehensive acute care facility, the hospital offers a full scope of medical and surgical services, including cardiovascular, general surgery, orthopedics, and women’s services with labor and delivery, alongside a future NICU. Opening with 124 beds, the 455,000 square foot hospital will be able to expand to up to 240 beds. State-of-the-art facilities include operating rooms, catheterization labs, interventional radiology, a vascular lab, an ICU and a full-service emergency department.

For labor and delivery, the hospital features six private suites thoughtfully designed to make you feel at home while providing exceptional medical care. Units Available:

Med Tele (Medical Telemetry):
A unit that cares for adult patients with medical conditions who require continuous cardiac monitoring. Common diagnoses include heart conditions, respiratory issues, infections, and other acute medical illnesses.

Med Surg (Medical Surgical):
A general acute care unit that treats patients recovering from surgery or managing a wide variety of medical conditions. Patients typically need hospital-level care but do not require intensive monitoring.

PCU (Progressive Care Unit):
A step-down unit for patients who need closer monitoring and more complex care than Med Surg but do not require ICU-level treatment. Common patients include those recovering from critical illness, cardiac events, or major surgeries.

Observation Unit:

A short-stay unit designed for patients who require further evaluation, monitoring, or treatment before a decision is made to admit them to the hospital or discharge them home. Patients typically stay less than 24-48 hours.

Position Summary:

Performs general patient care including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and continuous observation under the guidance, mentoring, and oversight of the Registered Nurse.


Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Baptist Health.
  • Performs advanced skills after achieving demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change; maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy); and tracheostomy care.
  • Performs increased or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients as assigned and utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist during staff changes or transfer of care for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients.
  • Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.
  • Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Ensures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
  • Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Participates in handoff report and conducts purposeful hourly rounding on patients.
  • Documents information according to Baptist Health specific policies and guidelines.
  • Transports and assists patients through the admission and discharge process. Also transports Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment.
  • Provides exceptional service and care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
  • Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
  • May have limited access to areas storing medications.
  • Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls, and guest requests.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.
  • Completes all mandatory training.
  • Participates in nursing Performance Improvement (PI) activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for the patient population on the assigned unit.
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status.
  • Interprets necessary information to identify each patient’s age-specific requirements.
  • Provides care as described in Baptist Health’s policies and procedures.
  • Consistently uses time and resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Enrolled in an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program and preparing to enter the final two semesters or quarter of the appliable nursing program OR completed nursing program and does not have current license.
  • Completed Senior Nurse Intern competencies.
  • Pre-graduation: Proof of continued enrollment in a pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment exceeding one (1) year.
  • None.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
