GRADE LEVEL: 52-53

DEPARTMENT: Load Research & Data Analytics

STARTING SALARY: $70,100 - $108,176

JOB SUMMARY PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Manager of Load Research & Data Analytics is responsible for identifying and conducting analytical analysis on emerging technologies and innovations such as distributed energy resources, demand response, electrification of transportation, and energy storage. The intent of this job is to integrate emerging technologies and innovations in the electric industry to the production of load profiles, differentiation of consumption characteristics, reconstruction of rate class and jurisdictional load contributions to overall system demand, and long-term forecasted system energy and demand. Assists in all engineering functions of the department, such as the development of the system loss study, and other duties as assigned and deemed important by the Manager.

EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering

** Maters Degree or PhD preferred

EXPERIENCE

0 - 3 years or more experience required. Salary is commensurate with experience.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  1. Experience with an electric utility principles and practices, operations, and applicable rules and regulations, preferred in the areas of emergent technologies, energy storage, renewables, electrification of transportation, and transmission and distribution. 

  2. Ability to interpret electrical systems, calculate cost and benefit estimates, and prepare comprehensive reports. 

  3. Knowledge of data mining/statistics (regression, probability, etc.) and statistical applications (SAS, C/C++,SPSS, R, Python, etc.) preferred.

  4. Ability to support the Company’s project management and oversight activities.

  5. Ability to identify, quantify and present risks, costs and benefits associated with projects, and issues.

  6. Ability to research and analyze information related to organizational, financial and technical issues.

  7. Ability to research and analyze information related to electric utility system principles and practices, operations, and applicable rules and regulations.

  8. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  9. Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

  10. Ability to generate credibility with and to present information to management regarding solutions to complex issues.

  11. Ability to perform complex technical studies with little or no technical supervision. 

  12. Ability to effectively utilize sound judgment and past studies to analyze complex systems and determine effective solutions to problems.

  13. Ability to document for both engineers and non-engineers the procedures and methodologies used in and the results of complex studies. 

  14. Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining deadlines.

  15. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  16. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  1. Manage analytical analysis on emerging technologies and innovations such as distributed energy resources, demand response, electrification of transportation, and energy storage.

  2. Perform studies related to system–wide loss analyses for input into demand and energy allocation studies

  3. Develop and test computer models. Evaluate, recommend and implement new methods of forecasting and software improvements.

  4. Assist in the evaluation and implementation of innovative and new forecasting methods.

  5. Serve as technical lead, as well as coordinate and schedule work with the technicians in the installation and maintenance of metering equipment.

  6. Compile, develop, analyze and maintain database of historical and forecasted load.

  7. Conduct data analyses supporting derivation of load and coincidence factors and calculating demand components.

  8. Initiate and perform the preparation of short, intermediate and long-term forecasts of emerging technologies and innovations such as distributed energy resources, demand response, electrification of transportation, and energy storage.

  9. Assist in the preparation of responses to requests for information (RFI’s) and schedules during regulatory proceedings and assist in the review and audit of section analyses and infrequently prepare written testimony for regulatory proceedings.

  10. Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations. 

  11. Perform other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of the duties defined.
