Our Avionics Test Engineering team in Burnsville Minnesota is seeking an Software Engineer Intern to partner with us for May through August 2027 and gain experience in the Aerospace industry. In this role, you will be exposed to a wide variety of test solutions at various stages of their life cycle. A successful candidate will be a fast learner with the ability to respond to requests efficiently. Day-to-day activities include designing and developing test software, requirement generation, test validation and verification, troubleshooting test solutions, and updating documentation. 

What You Will Do:

You will assist in researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems via test software, as well as resolving day-to-day technical problems by troubleshooting software problems on the production line.
You will gain knowledge about architecture and system design of electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. 
You will assist in analyzing and evaluating new or improved electronic components.  
You will develop test software per requirements and ensure complete validation and verification of your test software before releasing to production
What You Will Learn:

You will learn the life cycle development of aerospace products and test systems in a manufacturing environment.
You will learn how to identify and propose modernization of test equipment conducting independent research and analyses.
You will learn to work as a team to solve the most difficult problems in manufacturing design.


Qualifications We Prefer:

Strong background in software engineering and or computer science.
Basic understanding of Electronics and Electrical Design.
Student pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an engineering discipline.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
