Job Description

Strategic Communications team manages digital communications and marketing for the company, including through social and digital channels. Coordinating the digital experience through our social media platforms for our customers includes managing internal and external customer relationships through a variety of online tools.

The Social Media Intern is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Work with Digital Experience Manager to develop social media strategy and digital marketing plan
  • Create content for social, web, mobile and email distribution
  • Utilize digital marketing to connect consumer to resources and programs
  • Utilize online platforms to create and schedule content (we use Sprout Social)
  • Participate in brainstorming and strategy sessions of integrated campaigns.
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts of our Social Media Ambassador program, “Social Shield”
  • Support Community Relations and Louisiana Blue Foundation team through digital channels
  • Support Human Resources Talent Acquisition team by promoting Generation Blue, our internship program
  • Support video production and online broadcast sessions by collaborating with Video Team
  • Run and analyze reports using Sprout Social platform and Advanced Listening tools
  • Conduct research on emerging trends in social media, digital marketing, mobile marketing and health information technology

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree program(s) / Current Status:  Senior level undergraduate student with studies in communications, public relations, marketing, digital marketing or related field.
  • Cumulative GPA:  3.0+ GPA preferred; minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.
  • Relevant Experience: Prior social media internship experience is preferred. Must be active or be willing to be active on various social media channels. Experience with social media management software, Google Analytics and industry related internship or professional work experience is a bonus.

Other Qualifications:

  • Prefer proficiency with social media content platforms and online reporting tools.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  •  Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication abilities.
  •  Must demonstrate the ability to think analytically and present ideas professionally.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to a changing work environment and team-oriented. Must be able to work 20-25 hours per week.
