Job summary

As a Credit Risk Analyst in Asset-Backed Finance Credit Risk, you assess and grade securitizations of financial assets where repayment is driven by underlying cash flows. You work with us at the intersection of finance and analytics to develop forward-looking risk views and recommend structures that fit the collateral and transaction profile. You partner with senior credit officers, coverage, and product teams to support disciplined approvals, portfolio monitoring, and clear written credit opinions.

Job responsibilities 

  • Evaluate client-level asset data and performance trends (delinquencies, defaults, net losses, recoveries, servicing performance indicators) to form a prospective risk outlook
  • Develop a forward-looking view of client businesses and collateral risk, including corporate financial analysis of originators and servicers as needed
  • Build foundational knowledge of securitized financial assets and related market dynamics
  • Participate in due diligence meetings, virtually or at client sites
  • Monitor portfolio performance, covenant compliance, industry trends, and emerging risks and opportunities
  • Validate cash flow and payment waterfall models to confirm loss coverage, liquidity, weighted average life, and trigger headroom, and challenge key assumptions
  • Collaborate with credit risk officers, coverage bankers, and product partners to design structures aligned to asset risk profiles
  • Support stress and downside scenario analysis to understand potential credit outcomes
  • Ensure accurate booking of exposures in JPMorganChase credit systems and coordinate with middle office teams to maintain data integrity
  • Prepare written credit analysis and recommendations for senior credit officers
  • Present periodic portfolio reviews to senior credit executives and business partners

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline
  • Strong interest in structured finance
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive approach with strong ownership mindset and curiosity to learn
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Internship or work experience in commercial or investment banking, especially with credit, structuring, or markets exposure
  • Familiarity with asset-backed and securitization markets
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding of credit, documentation, and transaction processes
  • Experience delivering high-quality work under time pressure in a demanding environment
