The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Athletics Photography Intern. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-non-exempt) position.  Fringe benefits are not included. Responsibilities: The Athletics Photography Intern plays a key role in bringing Iowa Hawkeye Athletics to life through compelling visual storytelling. This position supports the External Relations team in creating dynamic content for 22 varsity sports programs competing in the Big Ten Conference. This position is responsible for capturing photography at athletic competitions, events, and related activities; editing and preparing images for distribution across digital and media platforms; and transmitting images in real time during events to support event coverage and media needs. Additional responsibilities include organizing and maintaining the department’s digital photography archive to ensure appropriate storage and accessibility of assets, and collaborating with communications, marketing, and creative staff to support departmental initiatives. This position may work up to forty hours per week and will require availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Photography, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field

• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
• Working knowledge of and ability to:
  • Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
  • Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week; including evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
• A valid driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards

Desired Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program;
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites or other graphic design programs;
• Knowledge of video and photo editing;
• Knowledge of working relationships with a media rights company.
