About the Role

PlanIT Geo delivers tree inventories and in-field assessment services to public and private clients across the country. As a Tree Inventory Technician, you'll travel to project sites to map and analyze trees, planting locations, and other natural resources using our proprietary software, TreePlotter.

This role requires heavy and consistent travel to a variety of assessment sites throughout the United States. You must be able to commit to traveling at least 3 weeks a month.

What You'll Do

  • Collect individual tree locations via mobile tools from aerial imagery in the field
  • Assess trees across a comprehensive range of attributes, including species, condition, height, crown spread, defects, risk factors, and site data
  • Train clients on tree inventory software
  • Produce reports and delivery files

What You Bring

  • ISA Certified Arborist credential, or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire
  • Degree in forestry, natural resources, horticulture, or a related field (in progress or completed)
  • Ability to identify North American tree species by common and botanical name, leaf-on and leaf-off
  • Familiarity with biotic and abiotic defects across species
  • Knowledge of urban tree growth habits and landscape use
  • Experience with GIS desktop software (ESRI or open source)
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods while using a tablet
  • Flexibility to meet daily and weekly tree inventory quotas
  • Ability to travel for up to two weeks at a time; valid driver's license required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Full-time W2 | Nationwide

Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000 base salary, plus performance bonuses of $3,000 – $8,000 annually based on production rates and revenue generation. Full benefits package available upon inquiry.
