Job Description

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibility: 

  • Performs cleaning  and housekeeping functions consistent with written standards 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

X No Supervisory responsibility   

¨ Provides guidance, leadership, or training to other employees (no direct supervision)  

¨ Directly responsible for supervising non-exempt, clerical, or office administration personnel 

¨ Directly responsible for supervising exempt, professional, or technical employees 

¨ Directly responsible for supervising supervisory/managerial employees 

Organizational Structure: 

Job title to which this position reports: Facility Engineer or Housekeeping Supervisor 

Job titles directly reporting to this position: None 

Job titles indirectly reporting to this position: None 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Keeps assigned areas clean and clear of trash 

  • Assists in set-up for meetings and/or special events 

  • Monitors and maintains cleaning chemical storage rooms 

  • Monitors and maintains bulk trash storage areas 

  • Assists with laundry functions as needed 

  • Other duties as required

Education, Certification, Skills, and Experience: 

  • One year relevant experience 

  • Capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision 

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, buffers, etc.) 

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemical capabilities, mixing proportions and use 

  • Knowledge in maintenance and care of finished surfaces 

  • Ability to respond to accidents, spills, and other housekeeping emergencies 

  • Ability to communicate with rest of staff 

YMCA Leadership Certification: 

Position requires ongoing progress towards Leader Certification 

Working Conditions: 

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel or crawl 

  • Must be capable of lifting/moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs
