Job Description

Cake Finisher

Job Summary:  The Cake Finisher will assist in decorating cakes and baked goods.

Shift: 6:30am to 4:30pm, 5 days per week, 50hrs per week

     

Essential Functions:

  • Trim, cut, and shape cakes to required sizes.
  • Spread icing between layers and on surfaces of cakes.
  • Mix icing, tint icing with coloring.
  • Form designs, figure and write messages on cakes with icing, chocolate, fondant, marzipan, pastillage.
  • Neatly store finished and unfinished cakes to maintain quality.
  • Able to fill and attractively finish layer cakes, including fondant covering and flowers.
  • Decorate cakes following decorating instructions for special orders, especially fondant and gum paste flowers and filigree.
  • Clean and maintain work area, mixing and decorating equipment.
  • Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices. Rotate cakes to ensure freshness (FIFO).

  • Kitchen environment.
  • The noise level in this workplace is usually moderate to high.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus, however, not required
