JOB SUMMARY:

As a Painter at USA Industries, you will play a vital role in our production process by meticulously painting various company production parts. Your responsibilities will include detailed preparation and final treatment of parts with a single stage industrial primer coat. Additionally, you will apply specification color strips to indicate pressure ratings, ensuring adherence to quality standards outlined in work orders. 

 This role operates within a high-volume peak load equipment manufacturing environment, requiring efficiency and precision in every task. As part of the team, you may be assigned other duties by your supervisor, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Perform surface preparation by removing rust, debris, scale, slag, or other foreign materials from paddle blinds, flanges, and subassemblies using grinding, wire brushes, or chemicals to ensure optimal appearance and gasket surface integrity.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain paint spray guns, pressure pots, compressor hoses, and abrasive cutters/grinders to ensure operational readiness. Assess the need for additional blending of paint lacquers as necessary.
  • Utilize hand-held spray guns to apply protective or decorative coatings, applying a single coat of standard shop primer black lacquer paint to all carbon steel products. Complete painting tasks efficiently and within designated timelines.
  • Apply color stripes to indicate pressure ratings as specified in work orders, adhering to ASME B16.5 standards for material groups listed in Table 1 of B16.48.
  • Stamp pressure ratings and additional specifications on work orders as required.
  • Perform cosmetic repairs on parts as needed, ensuring operations are unaffected. This includes painting small items and applying touch-ups using paint brushes.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of safe working conditions, including potential hazards such as open flames and electrical shorting in the work area.
  • Clean and maintain painting and coating equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air supplies, and personal protective equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Complete relevant sections of work travelers and any other required paperwork detailing the completion and quality control of work performed.
  • Adhere to daily housekeeping standards, ensuring proper disposal of paint lacquer 5-gallon pails and small aerosol cans by crushing them before disposal.
  • Execute various tasks, as assigned by your manager, supervisor, or company officer, whether within your standard duties or as requested beyond regular responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; additional education, certification, or experience in painting or related field preferred.

 Work Experience

  • Preferred minimum of one year of experience in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with tools, materials, equipment, and techniques of the paint trade, including expertise with spray guns.
  • Proficiency in mixing and blending paints.

 Skills

  • Understands English sufficiently to comprehend verbal instructions.
  • Excellent color vision for accurate painting.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in work.
  • Forklift experience with certification preferred. Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
  • Demonstrated patience to focus on intricate tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and enthusiastic demeanor.

 Physical Requirements

  • Capable of lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Endurance and physical stamina to stand and/or walk continuously.
  • Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude for handling equipment and materials.
  • Comfort working with weights exceeding fifty pounds frequently or continuously.
  • Excellent eye-hand-foot coordination.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including cold, hot, or dusty environments with noisy conditions.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
  • Able to independently lift weights of up to fifty pounds.
