As a Kitchen & Bakery Associate at the Co-op, you’ll prepare fresh, high-quality foods across both our kitchen and bakery operations. From cooking prepared foods and stocking Grab & Go cases to baking pastries, cookies, and muffins, you’ll help keep products fresh, consistent, and ready for customers. This flexible back-of-house role supports multiple departments based on daily production needs, requiring adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to quality. You’ll follow approved Co-op recipes, maintain food safety standards, and work closely with your team to keep production running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
Prepare and cook kitchen items and baked goods according to Co-op recipes and quality standards.
Follow daily production schedules to support department needs and keep displays and Grab & Go cases fresh, full, and inviting.
Maintain consistency in product quality, portion sizes, presentation, freshness, and food safety standards.
Keep workstations clean, organized, stocked, and ready for production.
Operate kitchen and bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
Assist with ingredient prep, setup, stocking, inventory management, and waste reduction.
Communicate clearly with leads and team members to coordinate production and workflow needs.
Flex between kitchen and bakery responsibilities based on daily operational needs and priorities.
Adapt quickly to changing priorities, troubleshoot minor production issues, and maintain a positive, team-focused attitude.
Provide friendly and helpful customer service when questions arise.

Experience
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery, or food service environment required
Knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices required
ServSafe certification preferred
Physical Demands & Working Environment
This role keeps you active! You’ll be on your feet, lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, and using step stools or ladders as needed. Expect a lively kitchen environment with collaboration, creativity, and plenty of delicious smells. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and used when working with equipment. It’s a fast-paced, team-focused setting where no two days are the same.
