Job Description

Join our four-person team where you’ll safely operate equipment, manage inventory, and help keep wood treating and shipping running smoothly while meeting daily production goals.

Job Status: Nonexempt - paid hourly and eligible for overtime pay. 

Reports to: RWP Plant Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:  

  • This is a full-time position. Generally, the work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 5:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., and may include some Saturdays.  Weekly work schedules are shared in advance and can range from 40 to 60 hours per work week.
  • Occasional travel to Muscle Shoals for training and company events is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Treating Plant Operations

  • Identify, tag, pull pieces, package, and bundle lumber and non-lumber items per order notes.
  • Operate forklift to load and unload treating plant tram.
  • Operate forklift to move lumber and other materials throughout the plant and property.
  • Half pack and repackage lumber.
  • Complete daily paperwork and basic computer tasks using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Communicate equipment, product, or workflow issues to the RWP Plant Manager.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the RWP Plant Manager.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Operate forklift to load and unload trailers safely and efficiently.
  • Check inbound and outbound loads for accuracy and safety.
  • Follow shipping and receiving schedules and keep records updated.
  • Operate company-owned and leased trucks to move, place, weigh, and transport trailers.
  • Complete trailer inspections according to DOT regulations before moving dollied trailers.

Safety

  • Arrive on time and follow all company policies in the Employee Handbook.
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Operate equipment and machinery according to company, OSHA, DOT, and product safety standards.
  • Maintain and protect company equipment and property.
  • Report maintenance needs, damaged equipment, and safety concerns.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Forklift experience with UTD certification or the ability to demonstrate safe handling of forklifts in an on-site test.

Preferred

  • Warehouse and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
