Job Description

Abrades surfaces of metal castings to remove adhering scale, shell, and dirt, and to impact specified finish by performing the following duties.

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00-$19.00/hr. entry level

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
  • Loads parts into cabinets
  • Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
  • Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts.
  • Directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
  • Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Check sandblast cabinets after each break & end of shift, and check the blast nozzle for wear
  • Check appearance of the Aluminum Oxide blast media, dispose of media that appears “powdery”, replenish cabinet with new blast media

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Minimum experience required 0-3 years
  • High School diploma preferred not required
  • Ability to understand basic English
  • Be able to follow basic instruction and work direction
  • Requires basic math skills
  • Requires basic computer skills

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and depth perception
  • Noise level is usually loud
  • Use of Goff Machine when needed
  • Use of Tumble Machine when needed
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Prescribed safety equipment must be worn at all times

1- Day Shift Opening- Hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm- Monday through Friday- Overtime work required depending on department demands. Must have the ability to work nights/weekends.
