Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or equivalent.
  • Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare or related setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical or administrative staff.
  • Verify patient insurance information and assist with the completion of necessary forms and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate patient flow by communicating effectively with medical staff regarding patient arrivals and delays.
  • Process patient payments and manage billing inquiries in collaboration with the billing department.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and managing office supplies.
