Job Description
French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Bridge Department in Wall, NJ.
Responsibilities
Assist in the analysis, design, and evaluation of bridge structures and structural components.
Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and engineering drawings in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Support the development of contract documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Conduct field inspections, site visits, and condition assessments under supervision.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams, including structural, geotechnical, civil, and transportation engineers.
Perform engineering modeling and analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, MIDAS, or similar).
Assist with the preparation of proposals, presentations, and project deliverables.
Maintain organized documentation and ensure project tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
0–2 years of relevant internship or professional experience in bridge or structural engineering.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.
Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and structural engineering principles.
Proficiency with engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
