TITLE:    Medical Assistant – RHC

DEPARTMENT:   Healthcare Practices

STATUS:  Full Time: 40 hours per week 

HOURS:  Day shift. However, position may require evening and weekend hours. Hours may be variable to meet office/patient needs. Location may be variable. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands.

JOB SUMMARY: 

Responsible for the direct care of patients presenting themselves in an office, ambulatory setting.  Involved in clerical services and clinical responsibilities. Cooperates with all members of the health team to meet total patient needs.

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A.  Education/Experience

1. High School Graduate orequivalency,required.

1. Completion of a formal MA education program or equivalent required. 

1. PreviousMedical Assistant clinical experience ina PrimaryHealthcare Practice,or equivalent,preferred.

1. 1 yearpreviousexperience administering medications andimmunizationspreferred.

1. Previousexperience working withgeneralpublic,required.

1. Computer skillsrequired.

1. Previousexperience in medical professional billing, coding, insurance verification, desired.

B. Licensure/Certification

1. Certification asMedicalAssistant, or equivalent,requiredwithin3months of hire.

1. Current BLS certificationrequiredwithin 6 months of hire. 

1. Personal Skills

1. Ability toestablisheffective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families,physiciansand other support personnel.

1. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system bymaintaininghospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested.

1. Influences the directionof Primary Healthcare Practice bymaintainingcomposure,excellenceand a positive perspective/attitude.

1. Ability to promote and adapt to changein order toremain current with standards of practice and services in thePrimary Healthcare Practicesetting.

1. Ability to apply the principles of quality care and service in the Medical Assistant role, in thePrimary Healthcare Practicesetting. 

1. Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative,honestyand positive attitude.

1. Knowledge and ability to learn the safe use of various office equipment.
