UPMC is looking for a Medical Assistant to join their Surgical Oncology Department at UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Presby! This position will be based out of UPMC Shadyside outpatient clinic, but travel to UPMC Presby will be required on occasion.
Hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, daylight hours. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required! This position is not a traditional MA/clinical role. Our Medical Assistant goes to clinic 1-2 times a week. All other time is spent in an administrative office with no patient contact. There is no physical hands-on patient care. This role is over the phone triaging, submission of authorizations for outpatient scans and scheduling. Our ideal candidate is someone with excellent customer service, detail oriented, time management, savvy with the computer, and is able to work with a large team.
Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.
Responsibilities:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
