Job Description

Surgery Scheduler/Supply Data Entry

MAIN FUNCTION:
 Schedules patient appointments for various procedures performed in the surgery and endoscopy department as well as some cath lab procedures and C-sections as ordered by a physician. Assists office schedulers in scheduling appointments in Meditech for procedures performed in the surgery and endoscopy department. Contacts Patient Financial Services when needed to assist with precertification and other insurance concerns related to surgical and endoscopy cases. Calls patients in a professional and friendly manner with their arrival times for scheduled procedures. Additional duties include copying, faxing, filing, distributing schedules, and answering/placing phone calls.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED
 • Computer experience — Meditech preferred

RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager Surgical Supplies, PeriOperative Director

Operations

• Follow Perioperative Scheduling Policy and Procedure.
 • Input patient information into the computer in a complete and accurate manner.
 • Monitor the schedule and its relationship to the surgeon’s block time.
 • Communicate with the surgeon’s office in a prompt and professional manner.
 • Work alongside the charge nurse to schedule add-on cases.
 • Print preference cards.
 • Print patient charts.
 • Call patients with their arrival times.
 • Apply knowledge of medical terminology when scheduling cases and procedures.
 • Perform data entry for surgery and endoscopy supply usage, ensuring accurate and timely input into the designated inventory or documentation systems.


Monday to Friday, No weekends, No holidays, Hours 8am to 4:30pm
