Position Salary Range $36,847 - $57,960

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Under general supervision, performs a number of administrative and financial functions to support Children's Act Services (CSA.)  This person is responsible for working closely with other teammates and partner agencies in both Suffolk and Isle of Wight. This person must be comfortable with processing hundreds of financial transactions and ensuring accuracy of processing for each transaction. This person must be comfortable and experienced with excel and use of data systems. This person provides administrative and support to City / County Boards and multidisciplinary teams. They must be comfortable with and experienced in operating in a formal business environment. 


The Human Services Assistant (HSA) in CSA must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service (including customer needs assessment, meeting of quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction). He or she must have excellent written and oral communication skills both, and a strong knowledge of structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. The HSA must be able to use systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology. This person is responsible for maintaining records according to state, local and Library of Virginia standards. He or she must be comfortable in demonstrating flexibility and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment. 


The HSA tracks a number of documents and due dates and must be able to meet deadlines. He or she sorts, maintains and files alphabetically, numerically, or by other established method; Maintains and purges files and other records. Copies and distributes documents. Opens, sorts, date-stamps and distributes correspondence. Types correspondence, memos, reports and or forms.  Uses computers and office equipment in performance of typical duties. The HSA works with agencies and individuals to resolve problems in a timely and professional manner.


Working knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, learning and motivation, mathematics and research methods and available community resources. 


Demonstrated ability to: work with clients, co-workers, professionals, and the public, follow written and oral instructions, perform basic mathematics,  organize, and prioritize daily tasks. use correct spelling and basic grammar, display common courtesy and be a team player. 


Requires a valid driver’s license.


REQUIRED:
High school diploma supplemented with postsecondary coursework in subjects such as social work, human services, gerontology, or one of the social or behavioral sciences, business or related field, and relevant work experience in public administrative support work OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer Minimal level of experience in the government. 


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
