Job Description

Culture & Communications Intern

At UDR, we believe culture is built through the everyday experiences, stories, and moments that help people feel connected to their work and each other. As the Culture & Communications Intern, you’ll support the team responsible for bringing our employee experience and internal communications strategy to life.

This internship is designed for someone early in their career who is excited to learn, contribute, and grow in the areas of employee engagement, internal communications, event planning, and employer brand. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to how a corporate communications and culture function operates while supporting meaningful projects that impact employees across the company.

We’re looking for someone who is curious, creative, organized, and eager to jump in wherever needed. You enjoy writing, collaborating with others, and thinking about how communications and experiences shape culture.

This position sits within our Talent Strategy team reporting to the Manager of Culture & Communications and partnering closely with the Culture & Communications Coordinator. You will work on-site at UDR headquarters in Highlands Ranch, CO, with flexibility for a hybrid schedule.

The Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of employee engagement activities and office events, including volunteer opportunities, celebrations, wellness activities, and other culture initiatives.
  • Assist with internal communications, including drafting newsletter content, employee spotlights, announcements, and event promotions.
  • Help maintain and update internal communication channels such as Viva Engage, SharePoint, digital signage, and other employee platforms.
  • Partner with the Culture & Communications team to brainstorm creative ideas that improve employee engagement and communication effectiveness.
  • Support coordination of meetings, event logistics, catering, supplies, and other administrative needs for the Talent Strategy team.
  • Assist with gathering feedback and engagement metrics to help evaluate the effectiveness of communications and employee programs.
  • Stay curious about trends and best practices in employee engagement, communications, social media, and workplace culture.
  • Support additional Talent Strategy projects and initiatives as needed.

Who You Are

  • A strong communicator with an interest in storytelling, employee experience, and workplace culture.
  • Naturally organized and dependable, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Curious and eager to learn, with a willingness to jump into new projects and try new things.
  • Creative and collaborative, bringing fresh ideas and positive energy to the team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift.
  • Someone who takes initiative, follows through, and enjoys helping others succeed.

The Other Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new technology platforms.
  • Interest in internal communications, employer brand, employee engagement, or event planning.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Express, social media platforms, or content creation tools is a plus.
  • No prior professional experience required — just curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.

Salary Range

  • $20-$25/HR depending on experience
