Job Description

The Maintenance Technician 1 is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks within a hospital setting to ensure that the facility and its equipment operate efficiently and safely. This entry-level position involves a variety of duties, including routine repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with complex repairs under the supervision of senior maintenance staff. The technician will help maintain hospital systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical equipment to provide a safe and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Must be able to be on standby call as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of hospital equipment, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building infrastructure.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Assist in preventive maintenance routines to ensure all hospital equipment and systems are operating efficiently and safely
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor maintenance issues in the hospital’s building systems and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Perform basic repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing electrical outlets or switches, and addressing minor system malfunctions
  • Report more complex maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or senior technicians for further action
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, including work orders, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities
  • Document any maintenance issues, completed work, and equipment status in the appropriate software or logbooks
  • Report any recurring issues or safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor for review and follow-up


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

License

  • Florida Drivers License
