Job Description

The kitchen assistant/ dishwasher serves as a key member of our busy kitchen staff. This role will support the Dietary staff in providing buffet style and made-to-order meal services for our patients and staff, 7 days a week, 3 meals a day.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares items for made to order and buffet style meal service
  • Stocks the buffet area with dishes and silverware, condiments, paper products etc., in preparation for mealtimes. 
  • Responsible for replenishing the buffet as needed throughout mealtimes
  • Ensures that the pantry, cabinets, and refrigerators are fully stocked daily in all buildings
  • Cleans all dishes, utensils, and food prep items during and at the completion of each meal service in both the Inn and MOB kitchens
  • Responsible for ongoing cleaning and sanitation of workstations, buffet and food service areas, tables and chairs, and other kitchen areas including all surfaces, walls, floors and other areas in 
  • Supports the kitchen staff with food preparation and other tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by lead chef on duty 

Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior waitstaff or professional front and back house kitchen experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service and professional communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to work both as part of a small fast paced team, but also independently
  • Serve Safe Food Service Sanitation Certificate strongly preferred (we will provide)
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in the evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
