Cary Medical Center has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Environmental Services/Laundry Technician to join our team. This important role supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff throughout the hospital. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining hospital areas and offices, as well as processing linens, clothing, and other laundry services to ensure the facility operates efficiently and meets high standards of cleanliness and care.

Duties include but are not limited to:

EVS:

  • Regularly consults the schedule to coordinate the daily activities and adjusts as necessary given the fluctuations in workload.
  • Routinely select cleaning materials and supplies and prepare solutions according to procedure, load service cart, and transport to work area.
  • Observe established isolation and asepsis techniques.
  • Clean assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions; scour and polish sinks, showers, toilets, water fountains, blinds, and mirrors.
  • Thoroughly clean assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceiling, appropriate equipment, patient televisions, and windows.

Laundry:

  • Receives, weighs and logs soiled linen from hospital and other facilities, if applicable.
  • Separates soiled linens to prevent any debris from entering the washing machines or equipment.
  • Sort soiled linen according to wash formula or type.
  • Assists in loading & unloading washers and dryers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Obtains the CHEST-Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician Certification within one (1) of the hire date (preferred)
  • Ability to work unsupervised  and relate professionally with other hospital staff.

Schedule:

  • Considering our patients and staff's needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
