About the Role:

The Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within healthcare facilities. This position ensures that all patient care areas, public spaces, and support areas meet rigorous cleanliness standards to prevent the spread of infections and promote overall patient and staff safety. The EVS Tech collaborates closely with clinical and administrative teams to support infection control protocols and regulatory compliance. Through diligent cleaning, waste management, and equipment maintenance, the EVS Tech contributes directly to the quality of care and patient satisfaction. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety guidelines, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of environmental hygiene in a healthcare setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in environmental services or custodial work, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as OSHA and Joint Commission standards.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare staff and patients.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, operating rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, and other facility spaces according to established protocols.
  • Properly handle and dispose of medical and hazardous waste in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are used safely and stored appropriately.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate department promptly.
  • Collaborate with infection control teams to implement and follow best practices for preventing healthcare-associated infections.
