Job Description

The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Staff Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries. This position will be assigned to the inpatient orthopedics setting.

  • Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment and treatment appropriate for patient’s needs. Assignment will primarily be to adult inpatient acute care setting
  • Evaluate and instruct patients in home treatment programs
  • Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner
  • Participate in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommend opportunities for improvement in service quality
  • Attend and participate in educational programs and provide educational experiences as assigned
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public
  • Performs special projects and tasks as assigned
  • Positive Impact/Achieving Results:  Ability to utilize existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs.  Able to demonstrate ethical behavior in a variety of situations while producing results

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor’s degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required
  • Entry level experience in physical therapy in an inpatient acute care setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required 

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Physical Therapy
  • 1-3 years of experience in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient orthopedics setting.
  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated leadership in a work or academic setting
