Job Title: Surgical Assistant Intern - Dental Assisting Program Intern Job Location: McLean Oral, Facial, & Implant Surgery, McClean, VA Job Type: Internship Summary: McLean Oral, Facial, & Implant Surgery, a part for the Beacon Oral Specialists family, is offering a dental assisting internship opportunity! Responsibilities:

Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
Autoclave operation and function.
Surgical tray set-up.
Identification of instruments used in the clinic.
Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery.
Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up.
Review charts.
Properly positioning restraints.
Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms.
Take vital signs.
Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.)
Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection)
Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
Make follow up phone calls to patients.
Excellent patient care & communication.
Greet patients and make them feel comfortable.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Currently attending a local Dental Assisting program.
Great organizational and time management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.

Schedule:

TBD based on practice and dental assisting program requirements.

Special Requirements:

Working in the office is an essential part of the job function.
Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
Physical requirements include driving, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.
