Job Description

Position Summary:

Following upon our roots as a family owned and operated business for the past half century, Paraco is leading the way with numerous initiatives including our state of the art production line in Waterbury, CT.   

As a Maintenance Technician I, you will be vital to our production line and facility maintenance in Waterbury and other locations in which we have propane tank refurbishment operations.  Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will work with the other maintenance technicians to ensure safe and reliable operation of the production line and facility operations.  

Key responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

•    Must be able to read and interpret machine manuals, blueprints, electrical and air logic schematics.

•    Perform mechanical skills and basic electrical skills to troubleshoot and repair production equipment.

•    Must be able to provide scheduled and unscheduled repairs of the production equipment and plant systems, and mobile equipment as needed.

•    Will be required to perform other mechanical skills such as welding, fabrication, cutting, lubrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, rigging, repairing power transmission equipment, etc.

•    Will use plumbing, pipefitting and carpentry skills to repair facility equipment/systems as needed.

•    Must be able to effectively communicate with production employees/management to obtain/provide information regarding equipment and system issues.

•    Use and understanding of personal protection equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout (LOTO) is required.

Desired skills and experience:

•    Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent required

•    Trade School, Vocational Training and previous Industrial Experience is preferred

•    Mechanical/Electrical Skills 

•    Knowledge of industrial equipment, Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Robotics referred but will train.

•    Knowledge of LP gas systems is a plus

•    A valid driver’s license is preferred. E1 or E2 license is a plus 

•    Must have the ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished, including overtime and weekends if necessary. Call-ins may occur as needed

•    The position will require the ability to lift up to 75 lbs., and also regularly include walking, standing, bending and twisting along with exposure to outside elements

•    Read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles and other equipment

•    Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, and complete maintenance and assigned tasks and repairs in a timely manner
