Intern – Transmission

Saber Power Services is a leading high-voltage Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company specializing in transmission, substation, and power delivery infrastructure projects. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Transmission Intern to support our engineering and project teams in the planning, design, and execution of high-voltage transmission projects.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to utility-scale transmission systems, engineering design practices, project coordination, and field construction activities. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and has an interest in power systems and utility infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist transmission engineers with the design and development of high-voltage transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV. 
• Support preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation. 
• Assist with transmission line routing studies, structure spotting, and conductor selection activities. 
• Perform basic engineering calculations using industry software and tools. 
• Support field investigations, site visits, and construction observations as needed. 
• Help maintain project schedules, deliverables, and document control. 
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to support project execution. 
• Review utility standards, NESC requirements, and client specifications. 
• Participate in safety meetings and maintain compliance with company safety policies and procedures. 
• Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations for internal and client meetings.

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline. 
• Strong interest in power delivery, transmission systems, or utility infrastructure. 
• Basic understanding of electrical power systems and engineering principles. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. 

Preferred

• Exposure to AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD, or similar engineering software. 
• Coursework related to power systems or transmission engineering. 
• Previous internship or field experience in utilities, construction, or EPC environments. 
• Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites.
