Your Purpose in this Role

The Junior Estimator supports the estimating team by organizing bid documents, assisting with quantity takeoffs, tracking vendor and subcontractor quotes, and learning Tempe Mechanical's estimating systems, scope review process, and proposal standards. This role is designed for someone building the fundamentals of mechanical and plumbing estimating, not for someone expected to independently carry complex projects.

Pay

$23.00 - $28.00 hourly - based on skills, experience, performance and ongoing training attendance.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Download, organize, and maintain plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents in the team's estimating platforms.
  • Issue invitations to bid to vendors and subcontractors and maintain quote-tracking logs.
  • Assist with HVAC and plumbing quantity takeoffs under the direction of an Estimator or Senior Estimator.
  • Input takeoff quantities, budget data, and vendor pricing into estimating worksheets and software tools.
  • Help maintain historical cost information, vendor contacts, and bid folders for future use.
  • Support bid-day preparation by confirming quote coverage, updating recap sheets, and assembling proposal exhibits.
  • Review drawing revisions and addenda for scope impacts and flag changes to the lead estimator.
  • Attend internal bid reviews, selected job walks, and turnover meetings as part of role development.
  • Assist with clarifications, exclusions, and proposal formatting for small or low-risk scopes.
  • Perform other estimating support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of estimating, construction administration, field support, or related experience.
  • Basic understanding of construction documents, blueprint reading, and trade coordination is preferred.
  • Exposure to FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and willingness to learn Tempe Mechanical's processes.
  • Comfort working in a deadline-driven environment with shifting bid priorities.
