Position Summary:

RProject HIRE is a randomized controlled trial examining the science of housing and employment, including the effects of integrated approaches on stability and long-term outcomes. Individuals exiting the emergency department will be screened for housing instability and employment needs and, if eligible, enrolled and randomized to study conditions.
The Community Research Liaison will support study implementation in one of two primary roles: (1) Screening and Enrollment, including eligibility assessment, baseline and randomization procedures, or (2) Vocational Support, providing employment-focused services to participants assigned to the intervention arm. Approximately three positions will be filled. This position is primarily remote. Limited in-person activities may occur at the School of Public Health or community-based locations (e.g., local libraries) as needed.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Screening and Enrollment Role:
  • Conduct outreach to potential participants to assess interest and eligibility
  • Administer structured telephonic screening and baseline assessments
  • Execute informed consent procedures in accordance with study protocols
  • Conduct randomized assignment per protocol
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in study data systems
  • Deliver employment-focused services, including job readiness support (resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies) and career coordination and connection to employment opportunities.
  • Conduct ongoing participant follow-up and engagement
  • Document all participant interactions and services in study data systems
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and protocol adherence activities
  • Support data quality and compliance with research procedures
  • Other duties as assigned 


Certification/Skills:

  • Bilingual in Spanish, strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in telephonic and virtual communication, preferred. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail, preferred. 
  • Ability to adhere to research protocols and maintain confidentiality, preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Cultural competence and ability to engage diverse populations
  • Proficiency with technology, including data entry and virtual platforms
  • Reliable internet access and a private, professional workspace

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Minimum Experience:

  • None
  • Experience in research, participant recruitment, or randomized controlled trials, preferred. 
  • Experience in workforce development, employment services, or related social services

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
