Rocky Mountain Prep is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates committed to changing public education in Colorado by democratizing college access for historically marginalized students and families. We operate twelve college-preparatory schools serving students from early childhood through twelfth grade, and we are fundamentally a world-class learning organization that invests deeply in every educator who joins us. Our Approach to Substitute Teaching

At Rocky Mountain Prep, Substitute Teachers are essential partners in ensuring every student experiences joyful, rigorous, and consistent learning every day. We believe substitute teachers do far more than supervise classrooms—they actively contribute to student achievement, strong classroom culture, and equitable learning environments. Our Substitute Teachers maintain high expectations while building positive relationships rooted in care, consistency, and respect. They adapt quickly, communicate effectively, and uphold our PEAK values in every interaction. Through flexibility, professionalism, and student-centered practices, Substitute Teachers help create safe, inclusive, and academically engaging classrooms where all students can thrive.

Substitute Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will...

• Implement lesson plans and instructional materials to support strong student learning and engagement.
• Build safe, structured, and joyful classroom environments through consistent routines, proactive classroom management, and strong relationships.
• Uphold high academic and behavioral expectations for all students.
• Support the diverse learning needs of students, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with teachers, school leaders, families, and student support staff.
• Maintain a positive classroom culture grounded in restorative and relationship-centered practices.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability across grade levels, content areas, and school settings.
• Model Rocky Mountain Prep’s PEAK values of Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness.
• Contribute positively to the broader school community through teamwork, professionalism, and a student-centered mindset.

Education Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree highly preferred

Other Requirements

• Must possess at least one or more of the following:
  • 1-Year Substitute Authorization
  • 3- Year Substitute Authorization
  • 5- Year Substitute Authorization

• Within the first year of your employment, you’re required to complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours.
• Pass a background check.
• Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States.
• We use E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires.

Salary 

• This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary of $55,000 based on experience and qualifications.
