We are a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with seven wholly-owned operations: the New Afton gold-copper mine in British Columbia, Canada, the Rainy River gold-silver mine in Ontario, Canada, the Las Chispas silver-gold mine in Sonora, Mexico, the Palmarejo gold-silver mine in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. Coeur Wharf is an open-pit, heap-leach gold operation and the only gold mine operating in South Dakota. Located in the northern Black Hills, Wharf is the only known operating mine that shares a hillside with a ski resort, Terry Peak.

 About the Job:

The Exploration Technician is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner

Responsibilities: 

• Provide general labor to the Exploration department.   
• The duties include cleaning, stocking, and transporting supplies, working with the contract drill crew, snow removal on drill trails.
• Responsible for maintaining safe access to drill trails
• Construct drill pads and trails
• Collect and stockpile topsoil as necessary
• Reclaim trails and pads including spreading topsoil and seeding
• Collect and move samples around
• Package samples for shipping
• Monitor contractors for compliance and safety rules 
  1. Conduct daily inspections of contractor work areas
• Required to operate small equipment on site such as forklift, backhoe, small loaders, and dozers.
• Perform any and all work as directed.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Physical Requirements 

• Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production
• Work in all conditions and environments, approximately 80% of job is outdoors
• Able to lift 35lbs. on a continuous basis, 75 lbs. on an occasional basis
• Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground daily

 Workplace Requirements 

• Work as a team member and communicate openly with others
• Self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects
• Willing to stop work for safety concerns and always abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures.
• 5-5-4-day shift schedule

Additional Information: Willing to work alternating between 5 work days, 5 days off, 4 days on, and 5 more days off.
