We Are 

KPF is a leading architecture and master planning firm that designs projects of various scales around the world. You will be assisting a team developing an upcoming KPF publication about architectural performance. The book takes several KPF projects and explains how they perform (environmentally, economically, etc.) through rich illustrations and data visualization. For this role, you will be collaborating closely with KPF leadership, KPF marketing, and the BIM team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technical drawing, digital modeling, and architectural storytelling. 

Role Description 

Your primary responsibility will be to design and refine diagrams and illustrations explaining performance aspects of KPF projects. Working with existing visuals, you will clean and redesign architectural models, data visualizations, and other drawings for use in high-quality illustrations that will be published in an upcoming KPF book. The goal will be to create a graphically consistent, aesthetically pleasing collection of visual representations for a monograph-style publication. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of projects from across KPF’s portfolio, both geographically and typologically.  

This role is ideal for someone with a high degree of technical illustration proficiency, strong organizational and communication skills, and an interest in architectural storytelling and bookmaking. 

Role Breakdown 

• Optimize and refine architectural models and drawings in Illustrator and InDesign for publication in an architectural book.  

• Collaborate with the book editorial and design team to ensure technical accuracy and consistency across all files. 

• Organize and structure digital assets for efficient workflow and future use. 

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design leaders and technical experts, to ensure illustrations meet both conceptual and technical standards. 

• Develop clear, engaging graphics in Adobe Illustrator to communicate architectural concepts and building systems (upon completion of initial preparation tasks). 

• Respond to graphic feedback in a professional, self-guided manner.  

Required Experience and Skills 

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with experience preparing and refining data visualization and architectural drawings. Rhino proficiency a plus.  

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing complex digital files. 

• Ability to interpret and communicate technical architectural information visually. 

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. 

• Interest in architectural representation, technical illustration, and publication design. 

• Ability to absorb and respond to design feedback in a timeline and communicative manner.  

Position Details 

• Internship position, part-time (minimum 16 hours/week) up to full-time (40 hours/week) in person at the KPF New York office. 

• Minimum of one month (ASAP to end of June 2026), with flexibility to extend through summer (August 2026).  

• Ideal for students or recent graduates in architecture, architectural technology, or related fields with a passion for technical drawing and architectural communication.
