This is a high-volume, customer-focused role that requires strong communication, tech comfort, and a willingness to hustle.

The hours for this position are 10:30 am - 7:30 pm 40 hrs per week, including Saturdays.

  • Educate customers on our products, services, install process, and promotions
  • Understand fiber internet and explain it in simple, clear terms
  • Listen to customer needs and provide tailored recommendations
  • Build strong customer relationships by promoting long-term satisfaction, identifying retention opportunities, and helping reduce customer churn

  • Use our CRM system to document conversations, track follow-ups, and log accurate information
  • Collaborate with internal teams to transfer calls and support a seamless customer experience
  • Stay current on product updates, service changes, and pricing adjustments
  • Meet or exceed individual sales goals and performance targets

What Will Help You Stand Out

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience handling multi-line phones and multi-channel inquiries (phone, chat, email)
  • Competitive nature and drive to meet or exceed sales goals
  • Ability to upsell or recommend additional products based on customer needs
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and systems at once

Desired Attributes

Beyond the qualifications, these traits make someone a great fit for our sales team:

  • Outgoing and confident communicator
  • Naturally persuasive with strong problem-solving instincts
  • Tech-comfortable and willing to learn new tools and systems
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Driven to succeed in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment

A Day in the Life

You’ll spend your day balancing inbound calls from people asking about Socket and outbound calls to leads who’ve shown interest. Some conversations will turn into sales right away, others will take a few follow-ups. You’ll schedule appointments, answer product questions, and explain the basics of fiber internet in clear terms. All the while, you’ll document your calls and keep your pipeline moving.

S

Socket Telecom LLC

In 1994, our founders saw a need for a local Missouri internet provider. They ignored some initial skepticism from friends and family – the internet was, after all “just a fad” - and started Socket, providing basic dial-up internet service out of a small office in Columbia. Demand for internet access grew rapidly. By 1999, Socket had more than 30,000 customers and relocated to two office spaces on Cherry Street in downtown Columbia. (Those spaces are now Glenn's Cafe and studio apartments!) As dial-up internet peaked, Socket looked to ways to keep its business moving forward. The company began offering high-speed internet and later became a CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier). With the expansion of business telephone and other advanced services, rapid growth ensued, and Socket was named one of the nation’s fastest growing companies by Inc. Magazine. Socket continued to expand, moving in 2007 to an office on Clark Lane in Columbia. Residential telephone service and Naked DSL internet were introduced, resulting in more expansion. Socket began work in 2011 on a brand new fiber-optic network to reach homes and businesses in rural Callaway County and Fulton. Socket has been expanding this fiber network ever since, now reaching several Missouri cities. Thousands of customers enjoy reliable, high-speed internet as a result. Today, Socket employs approximately 200 people and is proud to be Missouri's local fiber internet provider, and we plan on bringing state-of-the-art technology and friendly, local support to as many homes and businesses as possible. We look forward to serving you!
