Job Description
Pay Grade/Pay Range: $1,900.00/month & full tuition coverage
Department/Organization: 200019 - Capstone Center for Student Success
Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; 20 hours per week, some evenings & weekends
Job Summary: The Alabama REACH Graduate Assistant assists with the collection, organization, tracking, and analysis of program and student success data to support assessment, reporting, and strategic initiatives. This position supports the development of reports, presentations, communication materials, and outcome summaries for internal and external stakeholders while assisting with research related to student success, trauma-informed care, retention initiatives, and underserved student populations.
Additional Department Summary: Responsibilities include supporting recruitment and outreach efforts through email campaigns, presentations, tabling events, social media, and other communication strategies, as well as assisting with the planning and implementation of student workshops, special events, and community-building activities. The Graduate Assistant will collaborate with students, families, faculty, staff, donors, alumni, campus departments, and community partners to support student needs and program initiatives while professionally representing Alabama REACH and The University of Alabama in interactions with diverse stakeholders and audiences. Other duties may be assigned in support of the Alabama REACH program.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Must complete bachelors degree by August 2026. Must be enrolled in a graduate program at The University of Alabama through May 2028.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to multi-task and balance multiple programmatic responsibilities. Creative thinker. Self-directed. Strong relationship building skills. Ability to represent the department to multiple audiences (students, families, staff, faculty, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with or personal experience related to foster care, homelessness, kinship/guardianship care, or legal orphan status. Social Work, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Business Administration (MBA), Communication Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Education, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, Sociology, or related graduate degree programs.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
