Maintenance Worker - Full time with benefits

Campbell County is currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to join our team. The shift is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This position offers full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance along with Virginia State's Retirement Plan (VRS).  Campbell County has a generous Vacation and Leave Plan including Holidays, Personal Days, Floating Holidays and Community Service Leave to use.

Position will be open till filled.

Performs with excellence, the following tasks, including but not limited to:

• Performs or assists with routine maintenance of buildings and grounds such as:   Painting, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, window/building washing, replacing locks, repairing and/or replacing sidewalks, patching and repairing roofs, basic carpentry etc.;
• Moves equipment, supplies, and furniture as requested;
• Cuts grass, weed eats, prunes bushes, and rakes leaves, as required;
• Shovels and pushes snow and applies chemicals to walkways as necessary;
• Replaces light bulbs as necessary;
• Performs other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of related experience
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License and insurable under County’s Policy.
• Requires completion of National Incident Management System IS-700 and IS-100 within 90 days of employment.

Core Skill Sets:

• Knowledge of basic safety as it relates to buildings and grounds maintenance;
• Ability to safely operate power equipment such as: string trimmer, chain saw, push mower;
• Basic working knowledge of hand and power tools;
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time;
• Basic understanding and ability to utilize the county’s adopted software platform.

General Service Areas/Conditions:  Work is performed both indoors and outdoors where uncomfortable conditions exist. Work involves a high degree of physical strain. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
