Job Description

The Robotic Grinder Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining robotic grinding systems used to remove gates, risers, and excess metal from castings. This position ensures that all finished castings meet dimensional, surface, and quality standards. The operator will set up robotic grinding programs, perform minor adjustments, use spool to grind excess metal that the robot cannot remove and inspect parts for proper finish while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate and monitor robotic grinding systems and automated finishing cells to clean, deburr, and profile castings according to production standards.
  • Perform setup and calibration of robotic cells, including tool offsets, wheel changes, and fixture alignment as directed.
  • Inspect parts after grinding to verify removal of gates, risers, and excess material while maintaining dimensional tolerances.
  • Make minor program adjustments to robotic paths, feed rates, or pressure settings under supervision when required.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance such as cleaning dust collectors, changing grinding wheels, and checking coolant or lubrication levels.
  • Identify worn tooling, sensor errors, or system alarms and communicate issues promptly to maintenance or supervisors.
  • Record production data, downtime, inspection results, and part counts accurately.
  • Maintain safe working practices in accordance with all OSHA and company safety standards, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.

What We Need from You:

  • High School degree or equivalent manufacturing/ foundry experience
  • Math, computer and communication skills are necessary.  Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.  Physical work includes:
