Job Description
Job Title: Lakes Technician
Department: Lakes Management
Reports To: Lakes Ecology & Fisheries Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary Appointed by the Lakes Ecology & Fisheries Manager and assists with managing the lakes within Hot Springs Village (HSV).
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications To perform this job safely and successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with safety awareness at all times. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Technician must have knowledge of boating operations and maintenance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) minimum. Preferred but not required for the technician to possess a Bachelor’s degree in fisheries science, aquatic ecology, or a closely related field; a one year or more of experience at the entry professional level in lake/fisheries management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to use and operate heavy equipment is preferred.
Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Requires a valid Arkansas drivers’ license and a clean driving record with proof of liability insurance. Ability to obtain and/or maintain an Individual Commercial or Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License. Prefer Certification as a Fisheries Professional by the American Fisheries Society.
