Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for processing prescription requests and managing medication refills in coordination with providers and pharmacies. They also handle prior authorizations and provide essential patient education regarding medications.
Qualifications
You have at least one year of clinical experience and knowledge of medications, their side effects, and delivery methods. You are skilled in medication administration, patient education principles, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. You also possess CPR certification or the ability to obtain it upon hire.

Job Description
- Review and process prescription requests from patients and those sent electronically from pharmacies.
- Follow refill protocol as set by the practice.
- Works closely with providers and pharmacies to answer any questions/discrepancies in medications.
- Perform medication prior authorizations.
- Assist with patient education as needed.
- Stays current with knowledge of medications (brand vs generic), doses and delivery methods (tables, creams, topical).
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality and protected heath information (PHI) in a manner consistent with HIPAA.
- Minimum one year clinical experience preferred.
- Great attention to detail and the ability to record information accurately.
- Knowledge of patient education principles to develop a self-care program.
- Knowledge of medications and side effects.
- Skill in administering a variety of medications as directed.
- CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
