ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are an El Paso born and raised company, and we are currently looking for General Laborers (All Levels). 

Job Summary

A general laborer is an entry-level position into the construction industry. General Laborers perform essential manual tasks, including cleaning, loading/unloading materials, and assisting skilled tradespeople in our construction projects.  They operate hand/power tools and machinery to ensure project efficiency and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in concrete and job site preparation
• Shovel concrete into construction area
• Dig trenches, back-fill trenches, set forms, level out dirt of job sites
• Performs set-up and clean-up at job sites
• Remove trees and shrubs to clear out job site
• Pour concrete and asphalt onto roads
• Operates and care for construction equipment and machines
• Remove, fill or compact earth
• Assist other craftworkers with their duties
• Understand and follow directions

Requirements
• 1+ yrs. of previous work experience preferably in the construction industry.
• Must be able to follow instructions and comply with our Safety rules and Procedures.

• Ability to work hard, positive attitude and get along well with team.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• Must be work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements, heat/cold temperatures, wind, rain, blowing dust
• Able to work around moving equipment and tolerate loud noise levels
• Bend and stoop repeatedly throughout the day
• Able to push, pull and lift 50+lbs
• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Able to walk on rough, rocky and uneven surfaces at construction sites

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must have a valid driver's license at time of application.
