Compensation / Benefits

  • $25/hr. 
  • Higher RN rate begins after passing NCLEX.
  • Evening differential $2.50/hr.
  • Night differential $3.00/hr.
  • Weekend differential $3.00/hr.

Norman Regional Hospital ICU is a 32 bed unit. The ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions- including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. The ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures/diagnosis seen in ICU include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals.

Comprehensive and inclusive training and for new graduate RN. 12 week orientation with a designated preceptor.

  • Provides general nursing care and routine treatment /procedures (under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse)
  • Facilitates processing of patients

Qualifications

Education

  • Provide documentation of completion of a program of registered nursing and eligibility to write the licensure examination in Oklahoma
  • The graduate may continue to be employed in a Nurse Resident role until licensed, provided that the first licensure examination is taken within 90 days after graduation and the examination is passed within 6 months of graduation, on either the first or the second attempt  
  • If the examination is failed after the second attempt, the Nurse Resident can no longer remain in the Nurse Resident position
  • Graduates of registered nursing program with concurrent LPN license will also be placed in Nurse Resident role

Experience

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification/Registration/Professional Designation ETC

  • Active Oklahoma LPN license or active Multistate LPN/LVN license, if applicable
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
  • Complete the 1yr Vizient Nurse Residency Program
