Job Description

Position Overview:   As a Sanitation Engineer at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental safety across the property. You will be responsible for the safe, timely, and discreet removal and disposal of waste and recyclables across the property, ensuring that all public areas, guest zones, and service corridors remain clean, sanitary, and visually impeccable.   Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, sort, transport and dispose of trash and recycling from guest areas, staff zones, kitchens, and public spaces according to established schedules.
  • Monitor waste bins and receptacles throughout the resort to ensure cleanliness and timely emptying.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in disposal areas, including dumpsters, compactors, and waste holding areas.
  • Operate transportation and waste management equipment (e.g., vehicles, compactors, carts, lifts) safely and efficiently.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to special requests for trash removal or cleanup from other departments.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to maintain seamless hygiene across guest and back-of-house areas.
  • Operate cleaning and sanitation machinery safely and efficiently (e.g., pressure washers, floor scrubbers, compactors).
  • Support pest control initiatives and monitor sanitation-sensitive areas regularly.
  • Uphold the resort’s commitment to sustainability by implementing eco-friendly sanitation practices.
  • Uphold strict hygiene and presentation standards, including proper use of uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team and business.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Prior experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or environmental services preferred, ideally in a luxury or hospitality setting.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures.
  • Commitment to discretion and professionalism in guest-facing environments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to safely lift, move, and stack items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  •  Able to perform physical tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
