Job Description

CHOC Specialists is a private pediatric subspecialty group with 26 pediatric subspecialties.  The group practices at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) which is a premier healthcare system based in Orange County, Calif.  CHOC is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients. 

We are pleased to offer a two-year research fellowship with the Division of Pediatric General & Thoracic Surgery at CHOC and UC-Irvine.  Research fellows will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of studies, including basic science and translational projects, pediatric general surgery outcomes, and trauma, fetal, quality, and health disparities endeavors.  Research fellows will have no shortage of high-quality research opportunities available to them.  Candidates should be general surgery residents interested in pursuing a career in pediatric surgery.  Preference will be given to candidates who will have completed their PGY3 clinical training.  Maintenance of clinical proficiency and additional exposure will occur through participation in the call pool.  CHOC is a high-volume, free-standing, rapidly growing children’s health system.  We are an academic division of 10 pediatric surgeons with an excellent record of close mentorship for our trainees.  And finally, Southern California is a wonderful place to live and work during research training.

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
