Job Summary

The Accounting Intern will be responsible for assisting the finance department with day-to-day operations. This role will provide hands-on experience in accounting operations, financial reporting, and administrative support. This position requires motivation, strong attention to detail, and organization to develop practical skills within a professional manufacturing environment. 

Essential Functions

Job Responsibilities

  • Use various software (Excel, accounting software) to assist with daily accounting tasks, including data entry and account reconciliations. 
  • Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. 
  • Prepare and maintain financial records, spreadsheets, and reports. 
  • Assist the accounting team with organizing, filing, and improving financial records and file organization within various electronic file storage systems. 
  • Assist with month-end closing activities. 
  • Review financial data for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Assist with drafting missing or aged policies, procedures (SOP’s), and work instructions for Finance and Sales Support. 
  • Support the tax department as needed with processes and compliance. 
  • Support audits and compliance activities as needed. 
  • Perform administrative duties related to the accounting department. 
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects and process improvements; such as: testing and implementing new systems and workflows, asset tagging inventory, etc. 
  • Protect the Etac organization by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensure and follow safety requirements and standards.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that follows, demonstrates, and promotes Company values.
  • Report to work as scheduled, on time, and be able to work entire work schedule.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to display professionalism. 
  • Basic understanding of financial data with the ability to analyze and problem solve. 
  • Effective verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work with Senior Management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. 
  • Ability to perform all essential functions in an ethical manner.
  • Proficiency in using computer applications (Outlook, Excel, enterprise software). 
  • Ability to learn ERP financial software such as Sage or Infor M3. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to be adaptable and responsive to changing business needs. 
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to observe and identify details. 
  • Ability to work extended hours as scheduled, including weekends.


Physical Demands

  • Frequent sitting, wrist manipulation, walking, and standing.
  • Frequent sedentary work with lifting and pushing up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional light/medium work with lifting and pushing up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to type and operate office equipment frequently.
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements to perform essential functions. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (emphasis in Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting software is beneficial. 
  • Previous internship or professional office experience a plus, but not required. 

Working Environment

  • Standard working conditions include a temperature-controlled office and manufacturing environment.
