Job Description

Join our team and assist in the daily maintenance and upkeep of multiple high-traffic kiosks located throughout the National Mall. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you’ll ensure that each kiosk remains safe, functional, and visually appealing for the millions of visitors who pass through each year. We’re looking for a proactive problem-solver, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work across several sites in a fast-paced, iconic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and complete work orders, in a timely and efficient manner, as required by Maintenance Department policies and procedures. Must assist in the completion, tracking and reporting of work orders
  • Duties may include general painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, masonry, landscaping maintenance, etc.
  • Perform assigned maintenance and mechanical duties for buildings and associated facilities, furnishings and equipment as requested
  • Capable of “hands on repairs” in most maintenance disciplines
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures including when lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Be available to assist other team members with maintenance related tasks
  • Polite, knowledgeable and timely customer service when responding to visitor inquiries

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrate basic skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment common to maintenance and repair
  • Possess the initiative to learn and willingness to grow in maintenance operations
  • Understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to work on ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms or crawl spaces, tunnels, ledges and roofs and understand the OSHA safety requirements as applicable
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to operate vehicles throughout property

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical certification/degree preferred
  • Experience: 1 year of general maintenance and/or construction
  • National Park experience preferred
