 Summary:      

Assists the General Manager/Asst Manager in the efficient operation of a retail store.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the Mission of Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas on a daily basis: “Goodwill is a local non-profit helping people overcome challenges, find jobs & grow careers.”
  • Demonstrate the Core Four in all interactions: “Be Honest, Be on Time, Work Hard and Be Respectful of Others.
  • Follow and complete duties assigned by members of retail management.
  • Smile and greet all customers as they enter the location.
  • Assist with store manager with planning for best possible merchandising system, including displays and store promotions.
  • Present friendly, cooperative attitude to general public at all times.
  • Help load and unload store merchandise as needed.
  • Must have own transportation to be able to make bank deposits in timely manner.
  • Sort donations according to company guidelines
  • Assist keeping store stock available.
  • Notify Store Manager of low and overstocked items.
  • Perform necessary janitorial work.
  • Adhere to all Goodwill policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring the store is secure at all times

  • Ensure the hourly floor check and monthly safety self-inspections are conducted.  
  • Assist in training of sales staff, as assigned by the General Manager/Asst Manager.
  • Assist in supervising and coaching of hourly employees.
  • Supervise and motivate store employees to reach production guidelines as set forth by Director of Retail, and to be capable of producing these standards as well.
  • To monitor and assist in the receiving, pricing and displaying of store merchandise.
  • To record and balance cash register receipts, make bank deposits and record store transactions.
  • To complete accurately all paperwork required in the day-to-day operation of the store.
  • To assist the store manager in achieving/exceeding sales goals both monthly and annually and to assist in implementing a contingency plan if goals are not being met.
  • use cash register to total sales, accept payment, authorize voids, returns, exchanges and credits for merchandise.
  • To act as a positive role model for employees and trainees in all aspects of professional performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:          

Oversees store and employees in the absence of a manager or assistant manager

Qualifications:

  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with, and among, store personnel while motivating them to their best performance.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including nights and weekends, and occasionally, long hours..
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs.   occasionally.
  • Must be able to use repetitive hand movement when buttoning, sorting, hanging and zipping garments.
  • Must be able to engage in prolonged standing, walking and in frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Must be able to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
  • Must have knowledge of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing as well as furniture and household items.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Prefer previous cashiering experience.
  • Prefer working knowledge of retail sales
  • Prefer experience in customer service

  •  Frequent lifting and carrying awkward materials up to 40 lbs.
  • Constant standing eight hours or more a day.
