Responsibilities

Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services.

In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit.

How will you make a difference at LBHH?

The Unit Coordinator supports the nursing team’s delivery of quality care by providing hands-on and clerical support at the unit level. 

The Unit Coordinator is responsible for completing the following duties and tasks:

  • Assists the Registered Nurse with admissions by obtaining vital signs and completing unit tours.
  • Assists the Registered Nurse with the discharge process, returning belongings, and escorting individuals out of the hospital.
  • Screens visitors and incoming calls, answers questions and prioritizing or redirecting as appropriate.
  • Monitors unit programming to ensure it is occurring per suite schedule. Reports to Nurse Manager if it is not. 
  • Monitors milieu management, including door management and hallway/room stationing.
  • Assists with physical interventions.
  • Conducts daily audits for completion of daily logs including but not limited to program fidelity, washer/dryer cleaning, safety rounds, labs, assignment sheets, and glucometer controls.
  • Maintains unit census boards.
  • Distributes and collect dietary menus and return to dining room.
  • Completes Patient chart maintenance.
  • Collects and distributes mail.
  • Assists with the collection and distribution of patient belongings.
  • Schedules portable diagnostic imaging for patients as ordered by provider using vendor protocols.
  • Actively participates on unit-based nursing councils.
  • Assists with maintaining adequate unit supplies and forms and reporting needs to appropriate parties for replenishing.
  • Assists with Social Services with needs in department.

  • Previous psychiatric, behavioral, or mental health nursing experience is helpful but not required.
